Florida Pro Baseball Overview
This site covers Florida pro baseball, including the Grapefruit League, Florida State League (FSL), and Florida Complex League (FCL). It includes information on regular-season teams that compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) and Minor League Baseball (MiLB).
The baseball calendar begins with Spring Training from February to March. Fans can follow MLB’s regular season from late March to September, while MiLB games run from April to September. At the rookie level, the FCL operates from early May to late July.
Each spring, the state hosts fifteen Grapefruit League teams for Spring Training. Florida also serves as home to the ten-team Single-A FSL and the fifteen-team rookie-level FCL. During the regular season, Florida has two MLB teams: the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays. Two upper-level MiLB clubs also play locally: the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Florida’s professional ballparks span the state, from Pensacola in the Panhandle to Jacksonville and Daytona Beach. They cluster along the Gulf Coast, from Tampa Bay through Sarasota and Bradenton to Fort Myers. On the Atlantic Coast, they concentrate in South Florida, from Port St. Lucie through Jupiter to Miami.
