Pittsburgh Pirates – Grapefruit League
The Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League Baseball (MLB) team, hold Spring Training at LECOM Park in Bradenton, Florida. As part of the Grapefruit League, the Pirates train here each spring before the regular season. Explore ballpark photos, view the map, access official MLB links, and check Bradenton weather.
LECOM Park, originally opened in 1923, is the oldest active Spring Training venue. A 2013 renovation modernized the facility while preserving its classic architecture. Among the modern features, the ballpark includes an outfield boardwalk and a tiki bar in right-center field. The Pirates have trained in Bradenton since 1969, forming one of Florida’s longest-running team-venue partnerships. They play home games at LECOM Park and develop players at Pirate City. About 4 miles from LECOM Park, Pirate City operates as the Pirates’ year-round player development complex.
LECOM Park anchors the southern edge of downtown Bradenton. The stadium lies about 10 miles from Anna Maria Island beaches and the city’s waterfront. The Bradenton Riverwalk runs along the Manatee River, drawing visitors to walking paths, parks, and waterfront dining.
With Spring Training complete, the Pirates compete in the National League. LECOM Park hosts the Florida State League (FSL) team, the Bradenton Marauders. During the summer, the Florida Complex League (FCL) holds its season, and the FCL Pirates play at nearby Pirate City.
