Lakeland Flying Tigers: 2025 FSL Champions
The Lakeland Flying Tigers are a Single-A team in the Florida State League (FSL) of Minor League Baseball (MiLB). Their Major League Baseball (MLB) affiliation is with the Detroit Tigers.
On September 16, 2025, the Flying Tigers won the FSL championship. They beat the Daytona Tortugas 9–2 at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.
This is Lakeland’s first FSL title since 2012. They became the third team in FSL history to win both halves. The other two were the 1995 Daytona Cubs and the 2024 Palm Beach Cardinals.
The 2025 FSL regular season ran from April 6 through September 10. During that time, Lakeland finished with 75 wins overall and a 44–21 home record.
Stephen Hrustich put the team ahead with a single in the fourth inning. Lakeland broke the game open in the fifth.
Nick Dumesnil and Jesus Pinto scored on a two-out error. Gabriel Reyes allowed two runs in 4.1 innings, but the bullpen shut out Daytona the rest of the way.
The Flying Tigers swept the 2025 FSL playoffs, finishing the season as league champions.
