2025 FSL Champions: Lakeland Flying Tigers
The Lakeland Flying Tigers are a Single-A Florida State League (FSL) team affiliated with the Detroit Tigers. The Lakeland Flying Tigers claimed the 2025 Florida State League title on September 16. Lakeland defeated the Daytona Tortugas 9–2 at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.
Lakeland claimed its first FSL title since 2012. The team became one of the few in league history to win both halves of the season. They joined the 1995 Daytona Cubs and the 2024 Palm Beach Cardinals in achieving that feat.
Stephen Hrustich put Lakeland ahead with a single in the fourth inning. The Flying Tigers broke the game open in the fifth. Nick Dumesnil and Jesus Pinto scored on a two-out error. Gabriel Reyes allowed two runs over 4.1 innings before the bullpen shut out Daytona the rest of the way.
The 2025 FSL regular season ran from April 6 through September 10. Lakeland finished with 75 wins overall and a 44–21 home record. The Flying Tigers swept the playoffs to claim the championship, earning the 2025 FSL Champions title.
