Tampa Bay Rays – MLB

The Tampa Bay Rays are one of two Major League Baseball (MLB) teams based in Florida. They compete in the American League East and play home games at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Visitors can find ballpark photos, a map, official team links, and St. Petersburg weather information.

The stadium opened in 1998 and has served as the team’s home ever since. Tropicana Field remains MLB’s only fixed-dome venue. The distinctive sloped roof is a surviving example of the multi-purpose stadium era. Tropicana Field sits about a mile from the waterfront and 10 miles from St. Pete Beach.

On October 9, 2024, winds exceeding 100 mph damaged the roof’s membrane, causing extensive interior water damage. The Rays played the 2025 season at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa while repairs were underway. The renovated stadium reopened for the 2026 season, with the home opener scheduled for April 6.

For Spring Training, the Tampa Bay Rays use Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Minor League Affiliate in Florida

Beyond the MLB club and Spring Training operations, the Tampa Bay Rays have one minor league team in Florida. The Rays field a rookie-level team in the Florida Complex League (FCL), the FCL Rays.
