Tampa Bay Rays – Grapefruit League
The Tampa Bay Rays hold Spring Training at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Florida. As part of the Grapefruit League, the Rays train here each spring before the regular season. This page includes photos and a map of the ballpark, links to official Major League Baseball (MLB) resources, and Port Charlotte weather information.
Charlotte Sports Park serves as the Spring Training home of the Tampa Bay Rays. A 360-degree concourse allows fans to walk completely around the playing field and change viewing angles throughout the game. A grass berm in left field provides affordable seating. The outfield boardwalk tiki bar serves tropical drinks overlooking the field. Fans can watch from the boardwalk railing, bringing them close to the action along the fence line.
Englewood Beach and other Gulf Coast shorelines lie roughly 20 miles from the ballpark. Stump Pass Beach State Park on Manasota Key draws hikers, anglers, and beachcombers. The surrounding area provides kayaking and wildlife viewing on Lemon Bay. Waterfront dining and walking paths along the Peace River bring visitors to nearby Punta Gorda.
After Spring Training, the Tampa Bay Rays compete in the American League. They play home games at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. During the summer, the Florida Complex League (FCL) runs its season, and the FCL Rays play at Charlotte Sports Park.
