Pittsburgh Pirates – Grapefruit League

The Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League Baseball (MLB) team, hold Spring Training at LECOM Park in Bradenton, Florida. As part of the Grapefruit League, the Pirates train here each spring before the regular season. Visitors can find ballpark photos, a map, official MLB links, and Bradenton weather information.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have trained in Bradenton since 1969. They play home games at LECOM Park and develop players at Pirate City. The Pirates and Bradenton maintain one of Florida’s longest-running team-venue partnerships. The ballpark features an outfield boardwalk and a tiki bar in right-center field. Originally opened in 1923, LECOM Park is the oldest active Spring Training venue still in use. A 2013 renovation modernized the facility while preserving its classic architecture.

At the south end of downtown Bradenton, LECOM Park sits near the Manatee River. The stadium lies about 10 miles from Anna Maria Island beaches and the city’s waterfront. The Bradenton Riverwalk runs along the Manatee River, drawing visitors to walking paths, parks, and waterfront dining.

After Spring Training, the Pirates compete in the National League. LECOM Park hosts the Florida State League (FSL) team, the Bradenton Marauders. During the summer, the Florida Complex League (FCL) runs its season, and the FCL Pirates play at nearby Pirate City.
