FCL Pirates – Florida Complex League
The Florida Complex League (FCL) Pirates are a rookie-level Minor League Baseball team in the FCL South Division affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The team plays at Pirate City in Bradenton, Florida. This page includes photos and a map of the complex, links to official FCL resources, and Bradenton weather information.
Teams play games on practice fields arranged in a multi-diamond layout. Admission is free, with informal seating and minimal amenities. Meanwhile, spectators can observe activity across multiple fields, reflecting the facility’s instructional focus. About 5 miles from LECOM Park, Pirate City serves as the Pirates’ year-round player development complex. Four practice fields arranged in a cloverleaf—each named for a Pirates Hall of Famer (Roberto Clemente, Pie Traynor, Honus Wagner, Willie Stargell)—allow coaches to monitor multiple workouts from a central point. On-site dormitories house up to 150 minor league players, supporting an immersive training environment. Pirate City hosts the Fall Instructional League, rehabilitation assignments, and extended Spring Training, and additionally, during the offseason, its facilities are available to youth organizations.
Pirate City is also used by other teams. Their parent team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, trains at the complex, and their Florida State League (FSL) team, the Bradenton Marauders, also trains there. When Grapefruit League games begin, the MLB team moves Spring Training to LECOM Park in Bradenton.
