FCL Pirates – Florida Complex League

The Florida Complex League (FCL) Pirates are a rookie-level team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates. They compete in the FCL South Division. The team plays at Pirate City in Bradenton, Florida. This page includes photos and a map of the complex, links to official FCL resources, and Bradenton weather information.

Teams play games on practice fields arranged in a multi-diamond layout. Admission is typically free, with informal seating and minimal amenities. The Pirates play up to six days a week from Monday through Saturday. Fans can also observe activity across several fields, reflecting the facility’s instructional focus. About four miles from LECOM Park, Pirate City serves as the Pirates’ year-round player development complex.

Four practice fields form a cloverleaf, each named for a Pirates Hall of Famer. The fields honor Roberto Clemente, Pie Traynor, Honus Wagner, and Willie Stargell. This layout allows coaches to monitor workouts from a central point. On-site dormitories house up to 150 minor league players, supporting an immersive training environment. Pirate City hosts the Fall Instructional League, rehabilitation assignments, and extended Spring Training. During the offseason, its facilities are available to youth organizations.

Pirate City is the heart of the Pirates organization’s training operations. The parent team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, trains there. Their Florida State League (FSL) team, the Bradenton Marauders, also train there. When Grapefruit League games begin, the parent team moves Spring Training to LECOM Park in Bradenton.
