Admission is free, crowds are small, and the facility offers limited seating and amenities. Teams usually play during the day, with games up to six days a week from Monday through Saturday. Light attendance allows fans a direct view of instruction and player evaluation.
Five full practice diamonds and a half field for infield drills make up the Charlotte Sports Park complex. The team plays most home games on the practice fields, occasionally using the main stadium for special games. All fields and the stadium feature natural grass. Indoor batting cages next to the practice fields allow players to train in all weather conditions.
The ballpark serves the Rays’ organization for Spring Training. Each spring, the facility hosts the Tampa Bay Rays as part of the Grapefruit League.
